ABOUT GAME LARDER PRODUCTS
As well as our usual range of meats, we supply meat from a number of rare breeds. These include, Gloucester Old Spot Pork and Salt Marsh Lamb, plus from time-to-time other rare breeds according to the season and availability.
Gloucester Old Spot Pigs
Our Gloucester Old Spot pigs are reared in the extensive woodlands of the Marks Hall Estate in Essex, by the Rare Breed Meat Company.
The Gloucestershire Old Spot is a large lop eared, mainly white pig with at least one black spot. It is officially recognised as a rare breed and can certainly be dated back to the early 1900's if not earlier.
Unlike the commercial hybrid pig, the Gloucester's are fed a far less intensive ration and fatten at a far slower rate. It is this rearing that encourages the development of the tender, succulent and fine grained meat full of flavour that these pigs are renowned for.
No additives or growth promoters are used in the production of these animals; the pigs are reared in the traditional way in totally stress free environment.
Salt Marsh Lamb
Salt Marsh Lamb offers a unique flavour due to them grazing over the natural grasses and samphire of the salt marshes in Romney Marsh in Kent. These marshes are free from any fertilizers and provide an environment where the sheep can roam freely.
The meat has a richer and altogether sweeter flavour. 90% of the UK's salt marsh lamb is exported to France where it is highly prized by their top chefs.
Game & Venison
We are game dealers and we offer a wide selection during the game season,
starting in August to the end of January.
- Pheasant
- Grouse
- Partridge
- Hare
- Rabbit
- Wild duck
- Venison
Our venison is genuine wild scottish venison from Balmoral & Royal Deeside.
The Balmoral Estate has been the home of the Royal Family since 1855 and this and the surrounding estates have been carefully developed over the years to provide habitats which support a diverse range of flora and wildlife.
The venison retains the distinctive flavour you would expect from animals that have foraged in the natural environment of the rugged Cairngorm uplands and is a naturally lean meat, low in fat, low in cholesterol and an important source of iron, protein and vitamins.
